The world of professional tennis has come a long way since the beginning of its open era in the late sixties….only forty years ago. And, almost at the same time, a professional men’s tournament was emerging in the Southern California desert. Located in the second largest market in the country, it has evolved into the largest combined ATP World Tour and WTA in the world next to the four Grand Slams. The BNP Paribas Open is a two-week combined ATP World Tour Masters 1000 and WTA Premier event featuring the top men and women professional players competing in a 96 singles draw and 32 doubles draw. The event is hosted at the magnificent Indian Wells Tennis Garden, located in the beautiful Southern California desert. Of the 23 sessions played, attendance is taken from only 20 sessions and in 2012 the event attracted over 370,000 tennis fans. The event offers equal prize money totaling $9 million.

Home of the BNP Paribas Open, the world's fifth largest professional tournament. The Indian Wells Tennis Garden features 29 hard courts, a member lounge, and both a fitness and locker room for members and guests to enjoy. Host to a number of tournaments and special events including: Big West Conference Championships, Golden State Athletic Conference Championships, World TeamTennis National Championships, and USTA National Championships, IWTG is the premier tennis facility on the West Coast. Fun and instructional tennis programs are offered year round. Programs include private lessons, group lessons, clinics and camps for both adults and juniors. Additional club services include racquet stringing and repairs, game arranging, ball-machine rental, leagues, and club mixers. Memberships are currently available. The Champions Volunteer Foundation represents a diverse group of people coming together, donating their time to raise funds for charitable purposes including youth recreational, educational and well-care programs.

More than 1100 volunteers come together from all over our local community and beyond to volunteer their time to work on 20 different committees for the annual BNP Paribas Open and other events held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The professional tournament committees include administration, ambassadors, ball kid coordinators, club suites, credentials, gates, information/programs, lost & found, media hospitality, media services, player concierge, player tickets, private housing, renewal tent, shuttles, special events, player/VIP transportation, ushers and volunteer services.

Since its inception in 2002, The Champions Volunteer Foundation has raised and donated over $1.2 million to a variety of local non-profit organizations including, but not limited to: The Barbara Sinatra Children's Center, Foundation for the Retarded, Desert Blind & Handicapped, Martha's Kitchen, People Helping People, USA, Palm Springs Stroke Activity Center, Children's Discovery Museum, Boys & Girls Club, Assistance League of Palm Springs, Head Start, National Junior Tennis League, Catholic Charities, Angel View Crippled Children's Foundation, Shelter From the Storm, Gilda's Club Desert Cities, Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, Family YMCA-Palm Desert and more.
